Bio Statement

Generations of ancestral weavers in Northern New Mexico produced distinct weaving patterns and connected stories. My Grandpa, a farmer, historian and teacher along with all his sisters, was exceptionally skilled at using his hands. My father, from a ranching tradition, was visually imaginative and a great storyteller. He loved to draw and paint. Both parents were teachers, but Mom was an incredibly disciplined instructor. My Grandmother was the trickster with her lively imagination. I am also a teacher who can spin and weave, a draftswoman, printer, painter and story collector.

Folk art related projects have evolved in collaboration with the Millicent Rogers Museum, the Taos Harwood Museum, the Gutierrez Hubbell House, the Colorado Taylor Museum, the Chicago Museum of Mexican Art, and the New Mexico Museum of International Folk Art. Master teachers have guided me in discipline skills with graphics, intaglio, fiber arts, narrative writing, visual literacy and cultural traditions, I always feel gratitude for their presence in my life. Handwork and manuscripts are included in the permanent collection of the New Mexico Museum and the Millicent Rogers Museum of Taos.

My work is an eclectic combination of art forms. Experiments with media and design flow along through spinning, weaving, sewing, printing, painting, storytelling and writing.
